Privacy
Gearpolis is a math game for kids, so the short version matters: the account is yours, the grown-up, and your child never gives us anything.
Who has an account
You do. We ask for an email address and a password, and we email you once to confirm that the address is really yours. That is the only account on this site.
Your engineers — your kids — live inside your account as profiles. A profile is a nickname you choose, a bot avatar, and a theme. No email address, no last name, no birthday, no photo. There is no chat, no friend list, and no way for anyone outside your household to see or contact a child here. There is nowhere for a child to type free text at all, which is the simplest way we know to never collect it.
What we keep while your engineer plays
We store which levels were attempted, whether the answers were right, how many stars were earned, and short codes for the kind of mistake that was made — things like "compared two fractions by their bottom number". That is what draws the city map, hands out stars, and decides which machine to open next. It is also the only reason we keep it.
What we do not do
No ads. No trackers. No analytics from anyone else — this site loads nothing from another company's servers, so no one else sees your visit. We do not sell or share what we keep, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or your child for anything other than running the game.
Cookies
Only the ones the site needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that protects forms from being submitted by another site on your behalf, one that remembers which engineer is fixing today (it holds nothing but the profile you picked, and it goes away when you sign out), and, now and then, a one-page cookie that carries a short message from one screen to the next and is gone as soon as you have read it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, because there is no advertising and no tracking.
Email we send you
Only what the account needs: confirming your address, and resetting your password if you ask. No newsletters. Every one of them comes from hello@playwithlucas.com, and you can just hit reply.
Deleting everything
Write to hello@playwithlucas.com from the address on the account and ask. We delete the account, every profile inside it, and everything those profiles played. There is no self-service button for this yet; until there is, the email reaches a person.
Children under 13
This site is made for children, so instead of promising that we never hear from one, here is exactly how it works. You open the account, you agree to this page, and you create each profile yourself. A profile holds a nickname you picked, a bot avatar, a theme, and what that engineer played — the same things listed in the two sections above, and nothing else.
A child never hands us anything directly. There is no sign-up for them, no email address, no last name, no birthday, no photo, and nowhere in the game to type free text. Nothing a child does here is visible to anyone outside your account, and none of it is used for advertising or given to anyone else.
You can undo all of it. Write to hello@playwithlucas.com from the address on the account to delete one profile and everything it played, or the whole account. And if you believe a child opened an account here on their own — the account, not a profile — tell us at the same address and we will remove it.
